ODE to a Style Legend....

 CLEOPATRA Circa 1963

 Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra

Even in her later years she remained forever elegant and dripping in Diamonds
Once Singer George Michael said she was the only person he had ever met with violet eyes

In Lieu of her death last Wednesday ( March 23rd, 2011) I decided its only right to dedicate a post to her, since this is afterall a style blog and she was and will always be one of the most stylish people to Grace the earth......
Once Elizabeth Taylor was famously quoted saying ...."Big Girls need Big Diamonds".....and Big Diamonds she Had ....matter of fact....Elizabeth Taylor did everything BIG....she was known for her Big Diamonds, Big Head dresses, Big Style, Big Smile and most importantly Big heart ( she was a philanthropist/ and AIDS activist ).... She was loved by anyone who came in contact with her and admired by others. An on and off screen legend Elizabeth Taylor found ways to touch peoples lives, whether it was by her movies, her generosity, her loyalty to friends, her fashion sense and style.... she was admired by many.... Her infamous role in Cleopatra made her the highest paid actress in hollywood then and also set her aside as a style icon....She was also known for her many marriages ( she was married 8 times >>>twice to Richard Burton her co-star in Cleopatra)

Elizabeth Taylor's Style was effortless and elegant and ALWAYS made a statement...her big jewels and headresses always stood out. She was always the belle of the ball and commanded attention everytime she walked into a room. Elizabeth Taylor would definitely be amongst the likes of Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, and Princess Diana...all trendsetters of their times and thereafter ...very much style icons and legends .....and their style will always be remembered and duplicated through time.... She left behind an amazing legacy... You do not ever truly live life or else you touched the lives of others in some way and leave your mark in their lives and the world ....The toledoblade.com couldn't have put it any better when describing the life of Taylor...."Though she started out as a beautiful actress, she left this world with a more precious legacy: a beautiful soul."
